Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills or DIBELS NEXT is a universal screening assessment that we give in our district at the K-6 level. Although there is a team of staff (iCoaches, administrators, other staff) that do the benchmark testing three times a year, classroom teachers are responsible for progress monitoring during the in-between times.
July - August DIBELS Next Training
Training for the DIBELS program is required of all K-6 staff and is changing for the 2014-15 school year. A series of online video modules (along with practices and feedback on the modules) are provided for staff prior to the actual training date of Monday, August 3, 2015 from 8:30 a.m.-12 noon at the Seaman Education Center Board Room.
During the month of July, preview the videos, complete practice and submit Module objectives forms through Google Classroom. This is independent work that you will receive IDP points for in MyLearningPlan.
Instructional Coach (and DIBELS Next trainer) Janeen Horton will be available to answer questions through email at jhorton@usd345.com.
ALL VIDEOS and OBJECTIVES FORMS should be completed by July 31st.
HOW TO ACCESS THE VIDEO MODULES:
Login to Google Classroom at classroom.google.com with your @usd345students.com acccount
Click the + sign to join using the class code: fhwl70d
Review the class assignments and resources.
Preview the Module Videos (there is a total of 4 hours, the longest video is 40+ minutes).
Submit the Objective Forms through the Classroom/course.
NOTE: During your technology orientation, the instructors will assist you with getting into the DIBELS modules.
DIBELS Next Practice Activities:
These are included in the manual and you will be prompted to complete the activity at the appropriate time. Please make sure you complete the "practice" activities before the August 3 training.
